CES Mourns the Loss of One of our Own: Recently Retired Professor Dies in British Columbia
New recognition highlights efforts ranging from restoring avian habitat to offering bird-focused courses, research, and capstone support. Washington College has a new feather in its sustainability cap. In early May, it was named a Bird Campus by the Maryland Bird Conservation Partnership, just the third school to gain the designation in the state.
Ann Horner ’80, an emeritus member of the College’s Board of Visitors and Governors and longtime CES Advisory Board member, has stepped into the role of CES Advisory Board chair, succeeding Clinton Daly. About her long involvement with the Center, Horner said, “I’m excited to see the great work continue...I think the team at CES is phenomenal. It’s a team that has always fought above its weight. It does amazing things.”
Washington College's Center for Environment & Society hosted renowned Arctic Climatologist and Glaciologist Dr. Jason Box for a talk and reception in downtown Chestertown on February 28th. As part of the "Polar Expedition with Washington College" series, Dr. Box lectured on "Arctic Climate and Greenland Ice" before joining students and guests for a reception at the Garfield Center for the Arts at the Prince Theatre.
