Alaina Perdon

Born into an outdoorsy family, Alaina has always felt most at home surrounded by nature, whether she’s fishing in the Barnegat Bay or hiking through Muir Woods.

Her passion for the environment led her to attend an environmental science-based magnet high school, where she conducted extensive research on topics ranging from mitigating nutrient pollution to analyzing bacteria presence in diamondback terrapins. Throughout high school, Alaina also had many opportunities to educate the public about environmental conservation. Helping kindergarteners release baby turtles at the beach and informing local fishermen about safe harvesting practices, she fell in love with teaching and sharing her passion with others.

Washington College has already opened Alaina’s eyes to the manner in which humans are connected to the world around them. She is a firm believer in the notion that everyone can make a difference and hopes to gain the skills to inspire others while at WAC. Always trying to keep busy, she’s involved in a number of activities both in and out of the environmental realm on campus, including SEA, Service Council, The Elm, the Center for Environment & Society, and George’s Generals; but, she is most looking forward to the fascinating new experiences she will have in the Food Lab!
