Ben Armiger
Ben Armiger began working as the College's Waterfront Director July 1st, 2013. He brought with him over a decade of experience in managing waterfront facilities and programs and is a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain and a Level 1 U.S. Sailing Instructor. Since 2009, Armiger has worked as a part-time captain at nearby Echo Hill Outdoor School, captaining school boats during both day and multi-day educational trips. Immediately prior to working at Echo Hill, Armiger spent a year as the dock master at Haven Harbour Marina in Rock Hall.
From 2000 to 2005, Armiger served as the Sailing Education and Programs Coordinator at Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels. In that position, he oversaw annual maritime education for over 300 students, facilitated the donation of launch boats for the waterfront program, and expanded the annual gross of the waterfront programs sevenfold. Armiger was also the head sailing coach at Gunston Day School from 2004 to 2008 and spent time as the charter manager at Gratitude Yachting Center in Rock Hall.
Armiger sat on the Board of Directors of the Chester River Association from 2004 to 2008 and is a member of the local bluegrass band Chester River Runoff. He graduated from Colby College with honors in 1999, receiving a B.A. in American Studies.
