The Office of Student Engagement is committed to uniting campus and community in meaningful service.
Whether your passion is helping animals (Animal Impact), saving the environment (Student Environmental Alliance), promoting equality and LGBT rights (EROS), working with children (Caring for Kids), building houses for those in need (Habitat for Humanity), or community service in general (Service Council), Washington College has a club for you!
Beyond the clubs themselves, OSE offers a wide range of club and community partnerships to provide students with the opportunity to participate in service work they’re passionate about.

Why get involved?
There are many reasons to get involved in community service. Here are just a few:
- Make a positive difference in the lives of others.

- Build your resume (being actively involved in service work looks really good to potential employers!).
- Network with community leaders and nonprofit organizations.

At Washington College, we care about finding community service opportunities that appeal to you.
If you have an idea for an event or want to raise awareness about a certain issue, we would love to help make that happen! Or, if you want more help finding a service project, please reach out to us.

Planning an Event? Follow These Steps:
Find the link to Campus Groups here!
Your event must be added to CampusGroups 2 weeks before your event. If you plan to serve alcohol at your event, please email the Office of Student Engagement 3 weeks before your event. If you need help please contact the Office%20of%20Student%20Engagement.
All vendors/performers need to be under contract through the Office of Student Engagement. Under no circumstances should a student enter a verbal or written agreement with an outside contractor. Reach out to the Office%20of%20Student%20Engagement%20or%20Antoine%20Jordan%20to secure an outside vendor.
To rent tables for your events please complete the Table Rental Form. This form includes tables for Hodson Lobby.
OSE owns lighting and a sound system that can be requested for events sponsored by Washington College clubs and organizations. You must email the Office%20of%20Student%20Engagement and/or Antoine%20Jordan at least 2 weeks before to your scheduled event.
If you wish to have ANY food at your event you must go through John D. Werczynskiand AVI. AVI has the first right of refusal for all campus catering, and therefore must approve any food purchased off campus. To place a catering order you MUST contact Antoine Jordan (ajordan2FREEwashcoll). Catering orders MUST be placed 2 weeks in advance, If your order is not placed within this timeframe your request may be denied and your event will not have food.
Please contact Catering Director John D. Werczynski (jwerczynski2@washcoll.edu) if there are any issues with your catering order.
Clubs and Organizations may use the Resource Room in OSE to create signs, posters, banners, etc. to advertise for their events. The Resource Room is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
The Director of Student Engagement provides the final approval for all student events. Requests will be approved through CampusGroups by the Office of Student Engagement. Questions regarding the event may be communicated through the chat option in CampusGroups. You may not advertise for your event until it has passed the 2 phase approval process. If you do not put your event at least 2 weeks in advance they may not be approved in time for the desired date of the event. Keep this in mind. Event dates, times, and locations are subject to change even after the event is approved.
Also, no student or advisor can authorize a contract. All contracts that are needed for the event must be handled through the Office of Student Engagement. (Example: performers, third party vendors, etc.)
