Permaculture Intern
Major: Environmental Studies
Minor: Education Studies Minor
Living in the Dominican Republic during my childhood has always fascinated me with the wonders of nature and its breathtaking beauty.
However, my move to New York City and the subsequent awareness of the negative impacts humans have on the environment have ignited a deep desire within me to learn more about environmental issues. I am determined to pursue a career where I can make a positive impact, influence others, and educate them about the environment, while also providing innovative solutions. Permaculture has been an eye-opening experience for me, showing me exactly how to achieve these goals.
Currently, I am a scholar at Washington College, where I have the privilege to serve as the President of the Student Environmental Alliance. Additionally, I hold the position of Treasurer in the Latinx Student Union, and I am an active member of the BSU, Composting Club, Garden Club, and Chicken Council. My internship at GrowNYC further deepened my passion for food justice, non-profits, community gardens, and education. It inspired me to become an educator, focusing on teaching children and adolescents about nature and sustainability outside of the traditional classroom setting, which is a field I am truly passionate about.
I am thrilled to embark on the permaculture internship, as it will provide me with a wealth of knowledge about permaculture and how I can incorporate its principles into my daily life. Moreover, it will equip me with the skills to effectively teach others about permaculture and the positive impact it can have on our world.
